Hi, I’m Luke

A photographer, father, professional camera wielder, occasional problem solver, timeline wrangler, professional awkward-person whisperer, and probably the least "boutique fancy photographer" photographer you'll meet.

If you're looking for someone who speaks exclusively in polished sales language, asks you to “softly gaze into the camera” every 12 minutes and behaves like a walking luxury brochure…

I may not be your person.

If you want someone who'll make you laugh, calm the nerves, help fix the outfit, survive family chaos, occasionally crack a questionable joke and create bloody beautiful photographs while doing it…

Welcome. You've found your people.

I am for The Alternative Humans, The Awkward Humans & The Humans Who Hate Fake Stuff

The Portrait Lens isn't built around cookie-cutter photography.

It's built for people who want beautiful images without needing to be fake to get the “pretty” pictures.

  • Alternative couples.

  • Tattooed humans.

  • Nerds.

  • Families who laugh loudly.

  • People who hate forced smiles.

  • People who want luxury quality but not luxury attitude.

Star Wars weddings? Love them.

Dark romance? Absolutely.

Slightly feral toddlers during family photos? Expected.

If you want beautiful photos without the weirdness, you’re in the right place.

A couple quick FAQs

  • Do you shoot traditional weddings?

Yes but I make them fun, candid, and full of personality.

  • What areas do you service?

I proud to serve North Brisbane and surrounding regions, capturing weddings, family sessions and events in and around this area. If you’re outside that zone, just ask I’m happy to discuss travel and tailor something to suit you.

  • How would you describe your style of photography?

My approach is relaxed yet professional — I like to be a “fly-on-the-wall” when the moment calls for it, helping everyone feel comfortable and natural, then stepping in more directly when we want to create an intentional portrait. I capture both the joyful, candid moments and those beautifully styled shots you’ll cherish. (I aim for images and prints you can cherish for years to come.).

  • When should we book you for our wedding/family session?

As soon as you have your date or a timeframe in mind! Weddings especially fill up quickly. For family sessions, once you know the season/setting you want (e.g., outdoor springlight, golden hour, etc) it’s ideal to secure the date.
I recommend booking early to lock in your preferred date and time..

  • How much time do we need to set aside for a session?

It all depends on the type of session:

For a family shoot, allow around 30-60 minutes (or more depending on group size and location) to relax, play, capture the fun and the portrait-style images.

For weddings (or full event coverage) I will chat with you about your timeline in advance from the preparations, ceremony, portraits, and into the reception if you’d like.

I make sure you feel comfortable and enjoy the session rather than feel rushed.

  • What happens after the shoot?

Once your session is complete, I carefully go through each image to make sure I didn’t cut anyones head off, edit and deliver you a sneak peek gallery of selected images within 2 to 3 weeks with your full gallery in the following 2 - 3 weeks.
You’ll receive a mix of candid, emotional and styled shots — ready for sharing and printing. I can guide you through choosing prints or albums if you’d like something physical to display and cherish.

  • Can we customise a package or request specific styles/locations?

Absolutely. I love tailoring my services to your story — whether it’s a relaxed backyard family session, a glamorous gala wedding, or something in between. If you have a particular location in mind, special props, or style inspiration (colours, wardrobe themes, gold accents, etc), just let me know and we’ll build it together.
Added bonus if you are having a STAR WARS themed wedding.

  • What if someone in our group is camera-shy or young children are involved?

I get it — many people feel a little nervous or think their kids won’t cooperate. My job is to keep the atmosphere fun, light and relaxed. I’ll capture genuine expressions by working naturally, engaging little ones, and not forcing stiff poses. My aim is beautiful images that feel real rather than overly posed.

  • What’s your cancellation or weather policy?

For outdoor sessions or weddings, I monitor weather and will work with you to reschedule if conditions are unsafe or unworkable (e.g., severe storms). I recommend having a backup date or location in mind. Cancellation policies vary by package I’ll outline those details clearly in your booking agreement so you know what to expect.
